Mit klassischen Instrumenten wie Sarangi, Sitar, Santoor und meist mit Tabla-Rhythmiken und indischem (Scat-)Gesang wird die indisch-elektronische Musik gesampelt.
Seit Anfang der 90er Jahre entwickelte sich das Genre aus dem "Asian Underground" und der "Dub Music". Heute ist die indische "E"-Musik weltweit auf den Dancefloors anzutreffen - abseits des Bollywood Hypes.
Die Mehrzahl der Künstler (Musiker, DJs, Komponisten), die man der Kategorie der indischelektronischen Musik zuordnen kann, ist meist ausgebildet in der indisch-klassischen Musik Nord- und Südindiens (Hindustani, Carnatic). So hat die Radiosendung Indian E-music einiges gemeinsam mit der Sendung IMC - India meets Classic, die seit mehr als 5 ½ Jahren (seit März 2006) als die einzige Ganzjahressendung zur indischen Klassik im deutschsprachigen Raum (Österreich, Deutschland und Schweiz) ausgestrahlt wird, und von dem Lothar J.R. Maier (Initiator, Moderator und Produzent) auch bei multicult.fm moderiert wird.

The Indian electronic music is sampled with classical Indian instruments (e.g. Sarangi, Sitar, Santoor) and usually combined with Tabla rhythms and Indian vocals (mostly from Indian classical style).
Since beginning of the 90th this new genre of music progressed dynamicaly from what we call the "Asian Underground" and "Dub Music". Today you can find the Indian "E" music world-wide on the dance floors abside the Bollywood hype.
The majority of the artists (musicians, DJs, composers) of the category "Indian electronic music" is trained mostly in the field of Indian classical music of North or South India (Hindustani, Carnatic). Thus Indian E-music has many things in common with the radio show IMC - India meets Classic existing since more than 5 1/2 years "on air" (March 2006) as the single all years radio show for Indian Classics in whole German language area (Austria, Germany and Switzerland), which is same hosted by it's brain ElJay Arem (initiator, moderator and producer) @multicult.fm.
